Student Researchers Develop Biomaterial for Tissue Repair

A team of undergraduate researchers developed an injectable biomaterial that behaves like living tissue, allowing cells to move through it while supporting growth. The findings appear in Advanced Materials and point to future applications in wound healing and cartilage repair.

New Gift Expands Housing Scholarships for Students

A $2 million gift from the First Congregational Church of Santa Ana will expand Chapman’s need-based housing scholarships. For students like Sienna Dilling ’27, that support opens doors and makes Chapman feel like home.

University Holiday Schedule Reminder for June and July

Chapman will observe two holidays this summer. Staff are eligible for early release at 3 p.m. the day before each closure, subject to supervisor approval:

  • Early release June 18 | Closed June 19
  • Early release July 2 | Closed July 3 and July 6

Sponsored Projects Services deadlines may be adjusted around these closures; faculty should plan proposal submissions accordingly.

New Tool Streamlines Contract Review Process

Starting tomorrow, June 10, all contracts must be submitted through Chapman’s new AI-powered Contract Agent at contracts.chapman.edu, where step-by-step instructions and templates are also available. Those who regularly submit contracts are encouraged to attend a virtual training session:

  • Tuesday, June 9, 2 p.m. | Zoom link
  • Wednesday, June 10, 9 a.m. | Zoom link

Campus Services Shift to Summer Hours

Chapman’s dining, fitness, health, and transportation services are now operating on summer schedules across the Orange and Rinker campuses. Most services resume regular hours the week of Aug. 24, with fitness centers reopening the week of Aug. 17.

Vote for Chapman in Best of Orange 2026

Voting is now open for the Orange Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Best of Orange Awards, and Chapman University has once again been nominated in the Best Education Services category. Community members can vote each day through July 2  recognize Chapman alongside other outstanding local organizations.

Celebrate colleagues at the Chapman Family Honors Staff Appreciation and Years of Service Celebration. RSVP by Wednesday, June 10. Similar to the employee holiday party in December, attendees can look forward to exciting raffle prizes at the luncheon. For 30 years, Ludie and David C. Henley have funded the Wilkinson College social sciences research lab that bears their name. Their support has funded student research that has influenced the National Weather Service, local emergency managers, and the United Nations World Food Programme.
