More than 2,700 graduates gathered under a clear Southern California sky as Matt and Ross Duffer ’07 — creators of Stranger Things — delivered Chapman’s first commencement keynote under President Matt Parlow. The twin filmmakers urged graduates to stay true to themselves in an age of social media and AI.

Chapman and Santiago Canyon College have launched a guaranteed transfer pathway for eligible students pursuing 14 approved majors. The agreement, effective Fall 2026, includes waived application fees, merit scholarship consideration, and coordinated advising between both institutions.

Maureen Harrigan Named Interim Chief Financial Officer
Maureen Harrigan, a higher education executive with experience at top-tier research universities, has been appointed Interim Chief Financial Officer effective June 1. She most recently served as Interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer at University of California, San Diego. Her appointment comes as Chapman continues its nationwide search for an Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Return to Campus Initiative: Upcoming Process Deadline
Chapman staff and administrators will transition back to being on campus five days a week beginning August 3, consistent with our educational promise to students and our Chapman Family culture. Some employees may choose to seek exceptions for this policy, depending on their individual circumstances. A formal review process has been established, and exception requests must be submitted to Human Resources no later than June 1, including any required supporting documentation.

Pharmacy Opens Summer Research Program for High
School Students
Chapman’s School of Pharmacy invites high school students to apply for its three-week Summer Research Program, running July 13–31. Participants work with faculty advisors on research projects and gain hands-on experience in pharmaceutical science. Registration is open now.

Vote on Campus
May 30–June 2, Argyros Forum Student Union, AF 119AB
Chapman will host a vote center for the California Primary Election in partnership with the Orange County Registrar of Voters. Vote in person, drop off mail ballots, update registration, or request a replacement ballot. The center is open 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Saturday–Monday and
7 a.m.–8 p.m. on Election Day, June 2.

Art Staff Member Featured in Tucson Museum of Art
Lorena Ochoa, studio manager in the Department of Art at Wilkinson College, was among 17 artists featured in “Ya Hecho: Readymade in the Borderlands” at the Tucson Museum of Art. The exhibition explores how artists transform found objects to examine life along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Chapman Alum Earns Metropolitan Opera Award
Tenor Ben Bliss ’08 received the Metropolitan Opera’s 2026 Beverly Sills Artist Award, a $50,000 national honor recognizing gifted singers with rising Met careers. Bliss, who studied Film Production at Chapman, has earned numerous accolades since his 2014
Met debut.
