It’s time to complete or renew your annual parking permit registration and make sure you are familiar with your parking options, parking policy, and transportation benefits available to employees.
All permits are virtual and verified by license plate recognition, so remember to register every vehicle you drive to campus, including rental or temporary vehicles.
Plenty of room to park
A recent capacity analysis by Parking & Transportation Services confirms there’s ample parking across Chapman’s lots and structures, including dedicated accessible and EV charging spots throughout campus. The largest structures may reach capacity midday, but there are many lots with 100 to 200 spaces across the Orange Campus, including designated levels employees can use in the Jim Miller and West Campus structures.
The map below highlights parking spaces available to staff with callouts for the largest lots and structures. Most lots are also available to faculty and students as well; follow posted signage at each location.
A few reminders as you plan your commute:
- No overnight parking allowed.
- Do not park in public lots without payment or on city streets that require a permit.
- Head-in parking only unless the vehicle has a front license plate.
- EV spaces have a three-hour limit before vehicles must be moved to a different space.
Additional transportation options
Chapman University operates a shuttle service for faculty, staff, and students that includes Orange Campus parking lot stops at West Palm Industrial, West Campus Structure, the Train Depot, and Schmid Gate. Passengers at Schmid Gate can request a ride on any shuttle by notifying the driver upon boarding of the need to be dropped at the West Palm Industrial stop.
All benefits-eligible employees are also eligible to enroll in the Commuter Flexible Spending Account (CFSA) benefit to put aside funds for transit purchases. Employees can contribute up to $340 per month on a pre-tax basis. Funds can be accessed through a debit card provided by WEX, and the debit card can be used to purchase passes directly from your transit provider (Metrolink, OCTA, etc.)
