Zed Sehyr, assistant professor of communication sciences and disorders at Crean College, received a $1.2 million National Science Foundation grant to build open-source tools for sign language data collection and AI recognition — helping close communication gaps for deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.

Chapman Alumnus Named Interim Head Coach for Swimming and Diving

Jason Willman ’22 has been named interim head coach of Chapman’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs for the 2026–27 season. A former Panther student-athlete and assistant coach, Willman becomes the fifth Chapman alumnus to lead a program in which he once competed.

A Student Vision for the Future of Orange

As part of a business capstone project, four graduating students presented a long-range vision for a creative production district in Orange to the Orange City Council. The proposal would complement the future OCVIBE district by building on Old Towne Orange’s historic character to attract creative industries and support long-term economic growth.
