Janeen Hill Built Crean College. Now She’s Passing the Torch

Janeen Hill will step down from her role as dean July 31 after 12 years leading Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. Hill built the college into Chapman’s second-largest academic unit, launching its nationally ranked physician assistant program and community clinics serving uninsured patients across Orange County.

Nominate a Colleague for Chapman Family Honors by May 8

Recognize a deserving colleague by nominating them for the Spirit of Chapman or Rising Star Award before the May 8 deadline. The celebration honors staff contributions, milestones, and years of service. Departments are also  encouraged to submit group photos for possible inclusion in a pre-ceremony slideshow.  

Academic Year-End Reminder: Update Your Mailing Address

To ensure you receive important documents such as your W-2, Payroll Services reminds employees to make sure their mailing address is correct and up to date in Employee Self-Service. This is particularly important for part-time and temporary employees whose roles/agreements may end with the fiscal year end on May 31, 2026. Supervisors should also remind student employees who are graduating to
do the same.

Tatiana Padgett, a food science graduate student, earned first place at Chapman’s Three Minute Thesis Competition, a global challenge held at more than 200 universities that tasks students with presenting complex research in just three minutes. She will represent Chapman at the Western Association of Graduate Schools regional competition.

Christian Grevin, a War, Diplomacy, and Society graduate student at Wilkinson College, presented his thesis research on Indigenous Alaskans during the Cold War at the 2026 Society for Military History Conference in Washington, D.C.

Orange May Parade Marks 250 Years with Citywide Celebration

Chapman University sponsored this year’s Celebrate Orange weekend, including the Orange May Parade, Taste of Orange, and Rotary Car Show. The parade celebrated the nation’s 250th anniversary, with the theme “Orange You Glad It’s America’s Birthday?” and featured more than 70 entries supporting local nonprofits.
