Javier Zamora to Discuss Bestselling Memoir ‘Solito’
Wednesday, Sept. 30, 7 p.m., Musco Center for the Arts

Award-winning poet and memoirist Javier Zamora will discuss Solito, his New York Times bestselling memoir about his 3,000-mile journey from El Salvador to the United States at age 9. The keynote is part of Wilkinson College’s 2026–27 Engaging the World series, “People and Communities in Motion.”

Student Research Highlights Heat Disparities at Orange County Schools

A Chapman study led by Joaquin Murillo ’25 and co-authored by Schmid College professor Gregory R. Goldsmith, Ph.D., was accepted for publication in GeoHealth. The research found higher surface temperatures at schools serving lower-income and more racially and ethnically diverse communities.

Chapman Alumnus Launches Career in Major League Soccer

Jordan Walton ’24, a Crean College applied human physiology graduate, has joined Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake as a performance coach after gaining experience with the LA Galaxy. He credits that experience with helping prepare him for his first full-time role in professional sports.

The Chapman community came together at Angel Stadium for Chapman University College Night on Sept. 15. Students, alumni, families, and friends showed their Panther pride while enjoying a night at the ballpark.
